Radhika Madan On Feels Like Ishq: "I Remember Going On The Set And Wondering Ki Aise Acting Karke Bhi Ghar Aa Sakte Hain" -EXCLUSIVE VIDEO
Radhika Madan, who was recently seen in Ray and Feels Like Ishq, talks about her diverse role choices, her experience with OTT, her future projects and more
Radhika Madan has had a good past few months as she had two back-to-back digital releases starting with Ray opposite Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor in June end, followed by Feels Like Ishq with Amol Parashar in July. Interestingly, Radhika’s Angrezi Medium with Irrfan Khan was the last film to hit the theatres before everything changed due to the pandemic last year.
Ask her that after that experience, how has it been to have two back-to-back releases on OTT this year and she responds, “The experience has been fabulous. In our mind, we somewhere took OTT for granted. There was an unsaid hierarchy starting with theatres, followed by OTT and then television. But because of the lockdown and covid coming into the picture, right now there is no hierarchy as the biggest of the projects are coming on OTT. Everyone is watching all these projects at home. So now, it’s just about doing good work and getting a platform for it to be viewed, be it anywhere. I feel fortunate to have had two back-to-back releases and the feeling is like - yay!”
Radhika has portrayed six different type of characters in her six projects till now and especially her last two characters—Didi in Ray and Avani in Feels Like Ishq—that appeared within a month of each other, were drastically different from one another. Mention that to her and she says, “I get bored playing one life and I think that was the reason I became an actor.”
The actress insists that when she gets offered similar roles, it doesn’t excite her. “Also, when people try to put me in a box, that’s when I decide to shock them. How much will they put me in a mould? After Pataakha and Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota, they wouldn’t have imagined me playing Didi. After that, Feels Like Ishq was like a break for me. I was too tired and emotionally exhausted playing characters that take a toll physically, emotionally and mentally. Feels Like Ishq was an easy-breezy script and I remember going on the set and wondering ki aise acting karke bhi ghar aa sakte hain. It was like a nice breather for me and I realised the importance of doing such projects in between that are not too taxing and are just entertainment,” she shares.
In March, Radhika gave a subtle hint in one of her Instagram posts, where she is seen holding a tennis ball. “Kaafi subtle hint. Something exciting coming up,” she wrote. Ask her if it is about any sports film she is doing or maybe a biopic and she says, “Yes, no, maybe, I don’t know. I can’t say anything until an official announcement is made.”
As for the only announced film in her upcoming repertoire is Dinesh Vijan’s Shiddat, where she is paired opposite Sunny Kaushal. Ask Radhika about its release plans and she is unaware. “That’s upto the producers. We have finally wrapped up the film and we all are really excited about it as the audience will see a different side of me,” she says.
